"Therapy is like taking your experiences that you have tossed in a suitcase (not dealt with) throughout your life, sorting through the contents of the suitcase, deciding what to keep and fold and put away nicely, and what to discard as it’s no longer needed (maladaptive coping strategies). The goal is not to empty the suitcase, but rather to reduce its contents to a manageable level and doing inventory on what is being kept. And now that you have learned to fold (healthy coping strategies), you can fold incoming clothes as you put them in the suitcase and there is no more room to accommodate more items because  now it is lighter, organized and you know exactly what is in it!"

Individual therapy involves a joint process between the individual and therapist. This form of therapy is helpful for individuals to increase self-awareness, self-exploration, identifying and setting boundaries, healthy coping skills and enhancing communication skills.

Couples therapy provides a safe space for couples to focus, process and work through unresolved challenges. The therapist will help the couple gain better insight into their problems and help change the way they perceive the relationship and each other. Another advantage of couples therapy is to help individuals effectively communicate with each other.

Family therapy involves reducing distress and conflict by improving the systems of interactions between family members. Family relationships are important for our mental health. Family therapy explores challenging situations by helping individuals explore and adjust to these experiences. Family therapy is recommended for improving communication and reducing conflict.
